Spring Cleaning Clothing Waste Drive
 
Do you have any clothes that CANNOT be donated - stained, ripped, holes? Please donate pre-washed clothing in our front office box. We will be transforming the textile waste into weaving during our weaving unit in Art! The box will be there until mid to late April.
 
Fun Fact: Did you know that the clothing industry pumps 1.22 - 2.93 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere yearly, accounting for 6.7% of all global greenhouse gas emissions?
Discovery Food Bus SignUpGenius
 

During the school year, Discovery students donate over 2,800 pounds of food to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Program) through the Discovery Food Bus Program.

 

Volunteers (parents and kids!) are needed to take the donations to AFAC at the end of the week. You may pick up donations anytime between 2-4 PM.

30-40 volunteers needed from Monday, April 22nd - Monday, April 29th. Contact John Re: john.re@apsva.us.

Discovery Classroom Volunteers

 

In order to volunteer in the school building, or be a chaperone on a field trip, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for 3 years. If applying for the first time, you must upload the copy of your certificate in your online application or may email your certificate to Anna Senn, the Volunteer & Partner Liaison for Discovery. Keep in mind your application will take a few days to process, so it recommended you do this well ahead of your scheduled volunteer slot!
