This fundraiser provides over half of the PTA’s budget, which is used to fund things like author visits, picnic tables, field trips, academic enrichment, and the hydroponic garden–just to name a few. Your contribution will have an immediate impact.

Q: What is the auction?
A: The Discovery Parent Social and Auction is an adults-only event for Discovery parents. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it’s also a chance to catch up with friends and meet new ones. Parents of all grade levels, along with some teachers and staff, attend the event.
Q: Is there a deadline to buy tickets?
A: No. Regular priced tickets will continue to be sold up until the event–including at the door–but we ask that you purchase them as soon as possible to allow us to better plan for food and beverage needs.
Q: Will dinner be served?
A: A variety of hors d'oeuvres will be provided. There will also be beer, wine, mixed drinks, and a specialty bourbon cocktail, along with soft drinks. Food and drink are included in the ticket price.
Q: What is the dress code?
A: 80s costumes are welcome but not required. Casual, cocktail, or costume–the choice is yours! All we care about is that you come and support our school community!
Q: Can I attend just to socialize? Am I obligated to bid on an auction item?
A: We have a fantastic variety of items–including rental homes, Caps, Wizards, and Nats tickets, one-of-a-kind teacher experiences, a pool membership, and more–but there is no obligation to bid. We are excited to socialize with and get to know other Discovery parents and teachers.
Q: What is the price point of auction items?
A: There is something for everyone! Some of the auction items start as low as $10 for the opening bid. You are guaranteed to find something of interest!
Q: How do I bid on silent auction items?
A: We will send out detailed instructions on how to do by Tuesday, March 14. It is the same software we have used in the past, which works well and is easy to use.

Save those Box Tops for Discovery PTA! Don't let your Box Tops EXPIRE!! You can help us reach our goal and make our first earnings check big by sending in your Box Tops in the next couple weeks. DROP OFF BOX IS LOCATED IN DISCOVERY OFFICE.
Some optional tips that will make our submission process easier: Bundle your Box Tops in groups of 10 or 50 using a sealable bag or envelope or Tape your Box Tops on a collection sheet, available at BTFE.com.
