Grade Level Shirts Available for Purchase!
Please email grade level and size to
discoverytshirts1@gmail.com. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Pick up instructions will be emailed to you once your order is ready. Shirts are all Gildan brand and available for Pre-K through 5th grade.
The pick-up location will have a bin to donate shirts from previous years. Discovery yard signs will also be available at the pick-up location.
The October 31 deadline for our fundraiser is approaching quickly! Please help the PTA provide support and experiences to students, teachers, and families. Make a donation to our school fund, the “No Frills Fundraiserâ€, so we can have the flexibility to think outside of the box and still provide a “Discovery community†feel to our staff and families in the midst of this unusual year. Donate here!
Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
The neighborhood scavenger hunt begins on Monday, October 12! This self-paced, fun activity can be completed all at once or over the course of the week. Check out the PTA website starting Monday to download the list of clues. Happy hunting!
Parent Teacher Conferences
The Sign Up Genius will come out in Discovery News October 12th at 4PM. The student school day will end at 1:15PM on October 22nd. Conferences will begin at 2PM. There is no school for students on October 23rd as parents and teachers will be engaged in conferences.
Volunteer with the PTA
Please don’t make us beg (at least not more than we already have). We need help! We have a lot of fun planned for our Explorers but we can’t pull it off without volunteers. Specifically, we need help with Movement Week, Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza, and the Community Art Project. To get started, click here or send an email to volunteer@discoverypta.org
Discovery’s partnership with Barcroft Elementary Kicks off next week!
Discovery has partnered with Barcroft Elementary to help provide groceries for Barcroft's Weekend Bag program, which provides 90 families with a weekend bag of groceries. Volunteers are needed to shop for and donate grocery kits (less than $10/kit) and snack bags (less than $4/bag); we'll also be looking for volunteers to deliver the bags next week. This is a new program and details are being finalized, but the grocery list and more details about how to get involved will be posted on the PTA website by Friday evening. Keep a lookout for more details and please consider helping our neighborhood families get the essential food they need for the weekend!
Needed: Photogs for Yearbook Portraits!
The Discovery PTA is looking for a few parents who have a talent for photography to help us take socially distanced, outdoor student portraits for the yearbook. If you or someone you know would be interested in volunteering a couple of hours, please contact jesssmith.house@gmail.com. No professional qualifications needed; hobbyists welcome!
Save the Dates: Discovery Restaurant Nights
Help support our local restaurants AND earn money for Discovery (while taking a night off from cooking):
October 13th - Pie-Tanza
October 28th - Sloppy Mama's
More details to come...
