Our next DISCOchat will take place on Friday, December 6th. Join Dr Healy & Dr Seeber at 9 am in Blue Sky Studio to discuss assessments, scores, and interventions. This is an informal opportunity to discuss all things related to all of the testing that our students undergo and what the results mean for students and families.  We hope you will be able to join us!

If you missed picture day or would like another chance to nail your smile, our professional yearbook photographers will be back at Discovery on Friday, December 6th. 

If your child is having their picture taken, please email their teacher to inform them.

We will be setting up a Hot Cocoa Bar on Tuesday, December 10th for our teachers and staff. The PTA will supply the hot chocolate and we ask parents to help supply the toppings and treats. Items are to be dropped off to the front office on Monday, December 9 or on December 10th by 9 am.

Join the PTA on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 pm for a showing of Wild Robot in the Discovery cafeteria. 

Doors open at 5:45 pm and the movie will start promptly at 6:15 pm. Blankets and sleeping bags welcome— no chairs allowed. Popcorn (cash & card) and pizza (CASH ONLY) will be available for purchase.

Please note that this is NOT a drop-off event. Parents/caregivers are to remain on-site with their Explorers. We expect all in attendance to show CARES. 

Registration for the Winter Session of French Language through Berlitz is now open! There are both before and after school opportunities for both "Continuing" French language speakers as well as new "Beginner" speakers. Baroody After-School enrichment registration begins Thursday, December 12 at 7pm and runs through January 12th at 11:59pm. Classes will begin the week of January 21 and will run for 6-8 weeks. Please see the attached flyer for class offerings and more information.

Student Discovery 10 Year Shirts were recently distributed. We encourage all Discovery Explorers to wear their shirts on the 10th of every month to show their Discovery spirit!

We had 40 submissions for this year's Reflections Program: Accepting Imperfection. Thank you to the students, it was wonderful to see the creative pieces. 

We welcome parents and students who participated to join us for a special ceremony to showcase student works on Wednesday, December 11th from 8:30AM to 9:15AM in the Dining Commons. 

The PTA is continuing its tradition of collecting gift cards for our Discovery community. Target, Walmart, Amazon, Uber and any local grocery store gift cards in amounts of $25 or $50 are much appreciated. Please help us support our Discovery community!

Please note: There has been a specific request from a Discovery family in need for Uber gift cards to aid transportation challenges they are facing. 

Gift cards can be dropped off at the collection box in the front office or you can order a gift card online and have it sent to the Discovery PTA at 5241 North 36th Street, Arlington, VA, 22207. Can’t get to the store but too late for delivery? You can order online, print at home, and drop it off by December 18.

Well done, Discovery! We collected 57 coats to donate to Clothesline, where they will be distributed free of charge to low income Arlingtoon, VA school-aged children. Thanks for supporting our community!
