If you are recieving this newsletter, it's because you renewed your PTA membership for 2023/2024. Thank you! Please help us by reminding your fellow parents to sign up for the PTA so they can also be kept in the loop on all the exciting things we have planned for this coming school year.

Come join us for the very first PTA meeting of the school year on Wednesday, September 6th (leading into Back To School Night). You'll learn all about the Discovery PTA, who we are, what we do, and why we need YOU to help us make this school year a success.

Our PTA Meeting will take place from 5:30-6:15 pm in the Dining Commons. Everyone will then transition straight into Back to School Night, starting at 6:30 pm. 

The Discovery Elementary School PTA partners with Baroody Camps to offer fun enrichment opportunities throughout the school year!

Show your Discovery Spirit by purchasing a grade-level shirt! 

Shirts are $10 and are available for Pre-K through 5th grade. Purchase your shirt  on the PTA website.

Pick-up instructions will be emailed to you when your order is ready. Orders for grade-level shirts must be placed by Friday, 9/15 if you want them in time for Spirit Day on 10/6. (We will accept orders after 9/15 but we cannot guarantee sizes or arrival by Spirit Day).

The Discovery PTA invites all of our Military Families to a Coffee Social on Friday, September 15th, after drop-off (9am). The event will be held in the Blue Sky Studio, located on the 2nd floor of Discovery. This event is coordinated by our wonderful Discovery community member Julz, who sends along the following introduction to our military familes:

Happy school new year! I am excited to be back at Discovery for another year. My name is Julz Stewart and I moved to Arlington almost 10 years ago with the Air Force.  I spent 20 years moving all around the country with my family.  I understand the unique challenges that face military families and I hope to help make connections for you so that the transition to a new town and school will be a bit easier .

I look forward to meeting  all of you at our coffee on September 15th at 9:00am in the Blue Sky Studio. Please reach out with any questions you may have  at Julz.stewart@gmail.com.

We are looking for a volunteer to help co-chair the Reflections program this school year.  The Reflections program kicks off this Fall and provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.  We're looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and enthusiastic to help co-chair Discovery's program.  If you have questions or are interested, please reach out to Sarah Lantz at shoolprograms@discoverypta.org.
