Don't forget to complete your Learning Model Survey by TOMORROW, 2/19! Even if you are not changing your choice of hyrbid or virtual learning, you are still asked to complete the survey by tomorrow, Friday the 19th. You should have received a link to the survey from your teacher via email last week. Thank you for your help to make this transition as smooth as possible.
BINGO Night
We are hosting our 4th Bingo Night of the school year on Tuesday, February 23 at 5:30pm. There are only a few spots left and advance signup is required. (If you miss out, we will have another in April and will prioritize Explorers who haven’t yet participated, so stay tuned for details!)
Diversity and Inclusion Movie Night
Explorers are invited to enjoy a movie night hosted by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and funded by the PTA. A ‘movie night kit’ will be available for pick up on Wednesday (2/24), from 2:30-4:00PM, on the dinning commons veranda. The kit includes popcorn and key discussions questions to engage with your Explorer(s).
Students will watch the film Ruby Bridges on February 24th, 2021, (on their own devices, in their own homes). Stay tuned for details on how to access the film. We will document our experiences with #DESmovienight. Sign up HERE to ensure movie kit availability for your family.
Clothing Drive
Help our neighbors at Barcroft ES provide a few fresh outfits for their kids as they go back to school. The PTA is collecting clothes in good condition, sizes 4T-16. Please see the PTA website for more info.
Bookmark Exchange!
The Community Partnerships team is sponsoring a BOOKMARK EXCHANGE with Barcroft Elementary – a fun winter craft and nice way to spread some cheer with our neighbors! Students can create bookmarks for our friends at Barcroft and will have a chance to receive a bookmark made by a Barcroft student.
To create a bookmark:
- You can design your own with supplies you have at home. Drop off decorated bookmarks on Library days on February 24th, 2:30-4 pm.
Bookmarks created by Barcroft students will be passed out in March!
Weekend Bags Program For Barcroft Families
Please consider donating to the Weekend Bag program for Barcroft ES families. Every week, Discovery families have provided at least 60 families with a bag of essential pantry staples. Now more than ever, families can use the support. There is also an online shopping option. Sign up here!
The notes of kindness and jokes have been a HUGE hit, so keep them coming!
Grade Level T-shirts
Grade level Tshirts are restocked and available for sale! Email discoverytshirts1@gmail.com with your grade and size request. After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email with pick up details.
Act now, as Grade level Tshirt day will be held on Friday, March 26.
Yearbooks!
Don't forget, we want your photos of Explorers COOKING & GARDENING! Do you remember the hydroponics that were in the dining commons and 4th grade hallway? Remember our hydroponics yearbook pages?
Well...this year we need your help to fill those pages and we would LOVE to have photos of your Explorer cooking/baking and/or gardening!! You are welcome to include what they created or planted, with your photo. Send your photos to this link or send it to yearbookphotos@discoverypta.org.

Steps for ordering your yearbook:
- Use the link provided above to access the Online Pay Website. Click on the Register button.
- Fill in the required information and click Submit. **This step is ONLY registering your info...NOT ordering**
- You will be taken to your Account Page. To view the product, click on the Memory Book by Jostens logo at the top of the screen.
- Choose the Standard Yearbook. Once you have selected the yearbook, you will need to enter your student’s name and choose the class they are in. You will need to enter this information for each student you are ordering yearbooks for.
- Select quantity. Continue to checkout. Follow prompts to check out.
**NOTE: you will receive an email confirming your purchase from Memory Book by Jostens. This is your receipt**
