Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza!
The Pumpkin Carving contest is this weekend! Explorers can submit their carved pumpkins at the Discovery Loop on Friday, October 23 from 2-3pm. Please sign up in advance to submit your pumpkin.
Explorers are invited to a drive-by judging of the entries on Saturday, October 24 from 3:30-5pm at the Discovery Loop. Voting will take place via Google forms; look for the link to be posted on the website on Saturday.
Take Care of Your Mental Health
Discovery’s Counseling team stopped in to the PTA meeting this past Tuesday to give a brief overview of the wonderful resources still available (during this pandemic) to all Discovery families. If you missed it, you can view the slides from the presentation.
Last Call to Submit your Reflections Artwork
Calling all Artists to create and reflect on the I Matter Because… program theme. Students can enter their artwork in various categories and under their grade-level division. Click herefor more information and instructions on how to upload your work. The deadline is TOMORROW, Friday, October 23.
No Frills Fundraiser - Deadline is October 31
Please make your donation to our No Frills Fundraiser before the deadline! Help the PTA provide support and experiences to students, teachers, and families. Make a donation to our school fund, the “No Frills Fundraiserâ€, so we can have the flexibility to think outside of the box and still provide a “Discovery community†feel to our staff and families in the midst of this unusual year. Sloppy Mama's Restaurant Night
Our next Restaurant Night will be Sloppy Mama's on 10/28. Discovery will receive 10% back on all dinner purchases. Due to the nature of cooking BBQ, orders have to be made IN ADVANCE! Orders can be placed between 10/22 and 10/27 on www.sloppymamas.com or download their app. Choose 10/28 as your pick up date, select the time of your dinner pick up (4:30 and later), and during check out, type "Discovery" in the discount code area so we get credit for the order. Day-of orders will be accepted based on food availability (ordering ahead is highly recommended).
Save the date:Taqueria El Poblano is scheduled for THREE Restaurant Day/Nights - Nov 10, 11, 12 for lunch and dinner. Taq will provide 20% back to Discovery. Just mention Discovery to your cashier or server for us to get credit for the purchase.
Food Donations for Weekend Bag Program
Help support our community! Discovery has partnered with Barcroft Elementary to provide pantry staples for Barcroft's Weekend Bag Program, which provides 90 families with a weekend bag of groceries. Volunteers are needed to shop for and donate grocery kits (less than $6/kit) and snack bags (less than $2/bag). You can get your children involved by asking them to create a note of kindness to include in the food bag.

2020 Discovery Auction Update
Auction 2020. Due to Covid-19, the PTA understands that certain purchases/experiences will not be able to be honored. Please reach out to fundraising@discoverypta.org to discuss your specific situation. The PTA is more than willing to honor reimbursements as necessary. Otherwise, the PTA will be grateful for your purchase to remain as a donation to our organization and efforts.
Grade Level Shirts are Still Available
Grade level t-shirts are still available for sale for Pre-K - 5th grade. Please email
discoverytshirts1@gmail.com to place your order. Please indicate size (all shirts are Gildan brand, youth size charts available online or on the Discovery PTA facebook page). Discovery yard signs are also available for pick up at the same location.
