Kick off the school year off with an active PTA Membership! 

Join or renew your PTA membership for the 2025-2026 school year. After school starts, only current PTA members will receive this weekly newsletter. 

This year, Discovery’s Open House will take place on Thursday, August 21st

• Last names A through L, please join us between 8:30 and 9:00 am.
• Last names M through Z, please join us between 9:00 and 9:30 am.

If you are unable to make it during your last name time, you may come during the other block, but we ask that everyone tries to stay with their alphabetical group to prevent overcrowding and ensure each student gets a chance to meet their teacher(s).

There are two remaining Kindergarten playdates! Join us on the Discovery Kindergarten playground (facing 36th St. N) at 10 am on August 23rd & 30th.

Meet fellow Kindergarten families and enjoy connecting with new friends. Siblings welcome!

Come join us for the first PTA meeting of the school year on Thursday, September 11th. You'll learn all about the Discovery PTA, who we are, what we do, and why we need YOU to help us make this school year a success.

Our PTA Meeting will take place from 5:30 to 6:15 pm in the Dining Commons. Everyone will then transition straight into Back to School Night, starting at 6:20 pm.

Our first restaurant fundraiser of the year is at pie-tanza on Wednesday, September 24th. All proceeds go to the FLS classrooms!

Order your grade level t-shirts now! We have a limited number/sizes of grade level shirts in-stock and for sale on the PTA website. Shirts are $10 each and will be delivered to your child’s classroom within 2 weeks of purchase. 

Label your items and support Discovery! Order labels through Mabel’s Labels to ensure you’re never without labels for all-the-things this year and help us support the PTA. Visit the Mabel's Labels fundraising site, search for Discovery Elementary School PTA (Arlington), and start shopping! If you lose something this year, we’ll return it to your child’s classroom if it’s labeled. 

If your family is interested in foreign language instruction this coming school year, registration has opened up. We are enrolling for both morning and afternoon classes. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis and is for the entire school year— September to May for more than 50 bi-weekly sessions. More info and the registration link can be found on the Baroody website.
