Learn how to be a good friend, colleague, neighbor, teacher and family member. Representatives from SMYAL, a local nonprofit that supports & empowers LGBTQ+ youth, will lead an interactive presentation where attendees will have the chance to ask all their questions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Topics will include: youth-friendly LGBTQ+ terminology, bystander interventions, pronouns, local resources and much more.

Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion: "Cured": Tue., Oct. 15 at 6:00 pm, Central Library
Join the library for a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary "Cured" (2020), which recounts a pivotal yet largely unknown chapter in the struggle for LGBTQ+ equality: the campaign that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove the diagnosis of homosexuality from its manual of mental illnesses in 1973. Following the screening, Arlingtonian and legislator Jay Fisette will moderate a discussion and audience Q&A featuring the film's Emmy-nominated directors Patrick Sammon and Bennett Singer.
