Alternative Family Meet Up on October 13

Come and connect with other families with alternative family structures on Friday, October 13th @ 4pm on the North Playground (by the spiderweb and slides).

All family structures are welcome, including (but not limited to!)

  • divorced or single parent families,
  • LGBT+ parents,
  • families by adoption,
  • grandparent caregivers,
  • blended families.

The intent is for students with alternative family structures to benefit from seeing the full diversity of family structures at Discovery and for parents to meet other Discovery parents with alternative family structures.

Movie Night, this Saturday, 10/14 is STILL ON!

Due to the weather forecast, we will be moving it indoors to the cafeteria. Food Trucks will be on-site for dinner options, along with a popcorn vendor! Food trucks will arrive at 6:30 PM, and the movie (Over the Moon) will begin at 7 PM. Please remember to bring blankets for the kids to sit on- and the Veranda will also be open for additional dinner seating options as it is covered from any potential rain.

This is not a drop-off event, parents or caregivers are to remain on-onsite with their Explorer. The PTA looks forward to seeing you at Movie Night!!

**Please enter through the cafeteria doors when you arrive. The front doors will be locked**

Parent/Teacher Conference Snack Station

Nobody wants a "hangry" teacher! Let's show our love for them during parent-teacher conferences by stocking a snack station. Please ensure all items are nut-free. Drop them off at the front office on Wednesday, October 18th during school hours until 5pm. Thank you for your generosity!

Wear Orange for Unity Day on 10/18

October is Bullying Prevention Month! On Wednesday, October 18th, we ask our Explorers to wear ORANGE (for Unity Day), and unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Unity Day encourages us to make stronger connections among each other to help prevent bullying and create a healthier environment for all.

PumpkinFest Volunteers Needed!

It's almost that time of year again! PumpkinFest is returning to Discovery on Sunday, October 29th from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM

In the meantime…

We need your help to run the various "stations" we will have set up around the Explorer Car Loop. We also have numerous other opportunities for volunteers, so please review our SignUpGenius, and sign up if you are interested in volunteering at PumpkinFest.

We are so grateful for our incredible community. Thanks for helping us make this event spectacular!

Volunteers Needed

The PTA needs a variety of volunteers in both leadership and support roles. Please take a look at our volunteer page to see a full list of available jobs and choose a task that fits your skills. Help us pull off the many amazing events and programs we have planned for this school year!

Just a reminder, in order to volunteer in the school building, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for three years.
