AFAC Food Bus is BACK
The Discovery AFAC Food Bus is back! Discovery will donate unused breakfast and lunch items to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) at the end of each week. Volunteers will then drive the Food Bus (their own car) full of the donations to AFAC on Friday afternoons. Interested in volunteering for the Food Bus? Sign up here!Â
Weekend Bags Program
Please consider donating to the Weekend Bag program for Barcroft ES families. Every week, Discovery families have provided at least 60 families with a bag of essential pantry staples. Let’s keep it up! There is also an online shopping option. Sign up here!
Bike to School Month 2021 - Let's Roll with It!
With students across Virginia learning in a variety of different ways, flexibility is the name of the game these days! That's why our theme for Bike Month in May is "Let's Roll With It!"  Instead of focusing on biking, walking, or rolling to school on a particular day, we're encouraging students and families to participate in Bike to School Month any way you can! For those looking to celebrate on a specific day, Bike to School Day is Wednesday, May 5. However, biking activities or events on any day in May are encouraged and should be registered on the walkbiketoschool.org website.

Searching for a New Yearbook Advisor/Volunteer The yearbook will be needing a NEW yearbook adviser to carry on for the 2021-2022 school year. My time must end as I take on a new and exciting opportunity to further my education. I have enjoyed being the yearbook adviser these past 3 years, working with your kiddos in creating a capsule of their best memories. In addition to a parent volunteer, we will be reaching out to staff members to collaborate with parents to create the next yearbook team. The team at Memory Book-Jostens are fantastic and offer an easy, online system to build the yearbook and monitor sales...so no experience is necessary!!
