REMINDER: Our Next PTA Meeting is TONIGHT, April 15 @ 7 pm
Dr Russo will kick off the meeting with a brief update on changes in CDC guidance. We will then launch into our regularly scheduled board updates, including an announcement about open executive board member positions for the 2021/22 school year. Faculty speakers this month will include Ms. Fisher and Mrs. Annamreddy — our rockstar Eco-Action Team Leaders — walking us through Discovery’s upcoming Earth Day Celebration. Friday (TOMORROW) is Spirit Day: Wear Green! Friday is an Eco-Action Spirit Day in honor of Earth Month. Explorers are encouraged to wear green and/or anything with nature or earth imagery!
World Heritage Night: Submission Deadline Extended!
World Heritage Night will be April 22nd at 6:00 - 7:30 pm. We are looking for many displays of your home culture. We will celebrate online this year! Please upload virtual display submissions HERE by April 19th in order to be curated in our virtual museum. Displays can consist of posters, pre-recorded performances, slideshows, pictures, etcetera that display examples from your culture and/or hands on objects for others to view. If you are still wondering how to participate, please contact Ms. Coulouris at angelique.coulouris@apsva.us. Additionally, we will have LIVE exhibits. These will be limited and fulfilled on a first come, first served basis. Think LIVE performances, a showcase, a cooking demonstration, or any other interactive demonstration. Sign up for the LIVE portion of the night HERE. Use the link above to submit artifacts for the museum.
Calling All Gardeners! The Eco Action club is planning for our Earth Day event on April 24th. We need help identifying what types of plants we should purchase to grow in the vegetable garden, kindergarten boxes and near the front of the school. If someone has expertise that can guide us we would greatly apricate it. We can meet in person, or we can virtually meet if that is more convenient. Thank you for your help! Bingo Sign Up is Live!
Our next Bingo Night is Thursday, April 29 at 5:15 pm! Sign up here. We are prioritizing Explorers who have not yet had a chance to participate, so please refrain from signing up if your Explorer has already participated this year.
Weekend Bags Program
Please consider donating to the Weekend Bag program for Barcroft ES families. Every week, Discovery families have provided at least 60 families with a bag of essential pantry staples. Let’s keep it up! There is also an online shopping option. Sign up here!
Yearbook Update - Signatures Still Needed! This year's yearbook is going to be AMAZING. We need just one more thing...your Explorers signature! For the past few years, we have included the signatures of our yearbook team on the last page(see photo). This year, the yearbook team includes ALL of our fabulous Explorers! - Simply use the Notes app on the iPad
- Select the pencil/marker tool on the keyboard (top right).
- Choose the marker; select the thicker point and stay with BLACK (any other color will NOT show up in the yearbook).
- Take a screenshot, save to photos and drop in the google form here or email to yearbookphotos@discoverypta.org. Submission deadline: Monday, April 26th

Steps for ordering your yearbook: - Use the link provided above to access the Online Pay Website. Click on the Register button.
- Fill in the required information and click Submit. **This step is ONLY registering your info...NOT ordering**
- You will be taken to your Account Page. To view the product, click on the Memory Book by Jostens logo at the top of the screen.
- Choose the Standard Yearbook. Once you have selected the yearbook, you will need to enter your student’s name and choose the class they are in. You will need to enter this information for each student you are ordering yearbooks for.
- Select quantity. Continue to checkout. Follow prompts to check out.
