Teacher Appreciation Week - We Need YOU!
In addition to gift cards, the PTA is assembling “care packages†and a fun video for Discovery’s teachers and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week next week. We need your help spreading the word to make it all possible!
Cards/notes/art
We’d love to include as many cards/notes/drawings from students and parents as possible. We have set up four drop-off locations this week around the neighborhood. Please spread the word among all your classroom parents. We are sure the teachers and staff will love everything else in their care packages, but these special notes will likely be their favorite items! Students are welcome to provide notes/cards/drawings for classroom teachers, Encore teachers, administrative staff, etc. Whoever they would like to acknowledge!
Please drop off your family’s contribution to this effort at any of the following homes by Friday, May 1st at 6pm:
- 5007 26th St N.
- 4630 23rd St N
- 3605 N Jefferson St.
- 3301 N George Mason Dr.
Each house will have a box out front beginning today, Tuesday, April 28. Please make sure your cards are clearly labeled with the teacher/staff name to make sure we get them to the right people!
Video submissions
The PTA is also going to create a video to “We’re All In This Together†from High School Musical. We’re asking Discovery children and families to record video while they dance along and lip sync to part/all of the song. Here is a link to the version done by Disney stars during the Disney “sing along†special on ABC.
When you record your video, it will help if you can have the song playing in the background so it’s easier to edit. You can just play the YouTube video on one device while you record your video so the audio comes through.
Here is a link to upload your video to Google Drive. (Alternatively, you can email your video to secretary@discoverypta.org ). Please upload videos no later than Thursday April 30th at 8pm. We need to have time to sort through them and edit before next week.
Everyone is welcome (this means moms, dads, siblings, grandparents and even pets!) - let’s show our teachers and staff how much we love them! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Melissa Daddio directly at daddiomelissa@gmail.com.

We know the Outdoor Lab Camp-Out is a highlight for our 5th Grade Students. Since we can’t host them at the Lab this year, we wanted to share the fun — virtually — with everyone!
