VCO Orthodontics Braces Blitz Fundraiser

VCO Orthodontics and Dr. Crissy Markova, in Arlington, are partnering with Discovery families for a braces blitz fundraiser from January 20th - January 24th! For every new patient that starts with orthodontic treatment (this includes students and anyone in their family), VCO Orthodontics will donate $500 to the school. Every patient will also receive $500 off their braces, expander, or Invisalign treatment.

Please note that only first time patients and/or new families are eligible for this promotion. To qualify, the promotion must be specifically mentioned on the health history form at the time of the appointment. An investment estimation will be provided once insurance verification is complete. This promotion is valid only from January 20th to January 24th. Please ensure that all necessary paperwork is signed, and a down payment is made during this time to take advantage of the offer.

Call today to schedule a complimentary consultation: 703-774-3070 or book online at VCOsmiles.com. Special appointments will be reserved for Discovery families that week so please make sure to mention the fundraiser!

Joseph Green Anti-Bullying Workshop

On January 23rd,Joseph Green will host a workshop on inclusion, exclusion, kindness, and bullying. Joseph Green is a powerful spoken word artist and educator who has worked with youth and adults for over ten years. He confronts difficult topics in order to grow people and bring peace.

Help us create a world where all children are seen and heard, not hurt. This event willl start at 6:30 pm, directly after our Winter Chorus Concert at 6 pm. The event is for all ages, but most appropriate for 4th and 5th grade families. In hopes of better planning, we have asked that families RSVP

World Heritage Dinner Celebration

Discovery will have a week-long recognition of World Heritage from February 3 - 7, 2025! Then we will end the week with a World Heritage Dinner Celebration on Friday, February 7 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

Save your Plastic!

In 2025, Discovery is participating in the NexTrex Recycling Challenge. We are collecting STRETCHY PLASTIC to weigh and recycle. The goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic in a year and we will get a new bench made from recycled plastic/Trex material! Start saving your clean and dry stretchy plastic (grocery bags, Amazon mailers, bubble wrap, cling wrap, any plastic that if you pull at it it stretches instead of tears!) now and we will announce the official start of the challenge later this month. We will likely be using students during 4th/5th grade choice block to help collect and weigh the recycled plastic.
