Discovery Elementary will be hosting Odyssey of the Mind on Saturday, March 9th.  We will have over 1,800 people in our building during this event.  We will be selling baked goods, snacks and drinks as a fundraiser for the PTA.  We need help manning the table in Dining Commons.  If you have an older child, please feel free to bring them with you and they can earn volunteer hours.

We’re very excited to host SciGenius for a S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art and math) night on March 13th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Dining Commons. There will be 6 interactive, hand-on stations for students to do things like make a lava lamp to take home and boo bubbles that don’t pop. 

This event is open to all students from pre-K to 5th grade. We hope to see you there! 

Help us provide food and drinks for our beloved teachers during Parent/Teacher conferences next week. 

The items are to be dropped off to the front office on Wednesday, March 13th or Thursday, March 14th before NOON!

Don’t forget to claim your Lost and Found items before Friday, March 22nd at 6 pm, at which point they will be donated to The Clothesline for Arlington Kids (Arlington’s first free clothing store dedicated to school-aged children). 

Parents please encourage your children to check lost and found during school hours and look for the cart at the Door 1 and Door 6 during the week of March 18th. 

The Spring 2024 Program Schedule has now been released, and registration is OPEN until Sunday, March 31st @ 11:59 pm. Classes START on Monday, April 8th and run through Friday, May 31st. 

You can already pre-order your Discovery 2023-24 yearbooks. Last year they sold out, so don’t wait! 

When you visit the memory book website for the first time, you will need to register. Discovery’s School Code is 154147M. Orders must be placed by April 18th, 2024. Yearbooks will be delivered to your student’s classroom at the end of the year.

The PTA needs a variety of volunteers in both leadership and support roles. Please take a look at our volunteer page to see a full list of available jobs and choose a task that fits your skills. Help us pull off the many amazing events and programs we have planned for this school year! 

Just a reminder, in order to volunteer in the school building, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for three years.
