Auction Catalog:  Our auction catalog is LIVE and bidding is OPEN!

Register for Mobile Bidding: The silent auction – entirely online – is now open for bidding. Some items, like parties and certain Explorer experiences, are for-purchase (not highest bidder) so be sure to act fast. You do not have to attend Saturday’s event to bid on silent auction items as everything will be done via mobile bidding. Register for mobile bidding to get started.

And, new this year, the Bourbon Tasting Party and Kentucky Derby Party will have in-person sign-ups... beginning at 8pm! Online bidding will close at 9:30 PM.

To Dress Up or Not? Barbie and Ken costumes are welcome but not required!  Casual, cocktail or costume - the choice is yours!

Last Day to Order Spirit Wear is Feb 23

Tomorrow, February 23rd, is the last day to order your Discovery Spirit Wear! From tie dye tees and hoodies to hats and totes, we have everything you need to show off your Discovery pride!

Purchase here!

Bob and Edith's Restaurant Night, Feb 27

An oldie, but goodie Arlington dive restaurant. The Discovery PTA invites you to dine-in, or grab take out at Bob and Edith’sall day long on Tuesday, February 27th. Mention Discovery when ordering and we receive 10% of that sale!

As an added incentive, the first 30 kids (dine-in only) will receive a free t-shirt! If ordering online, Chow hound is their preferred delivery method, but they also do DoorDash and Uber Eats, just type, Discovery, in the notes section when ordering.

Implicit Bias Discussion, February 27

Do you have questions about how APS is addressing implicit bias in our schools and classrooms? Want to learn more about how our school system is working to create and sustain an inclusive learning environment?

Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on Tuesday, February 27th for a 90-minute interactive conversation to provide participants with definitions of various terms and provide families and caregivers with an understanding of ongoing efforts in the community. There will be time allocated at the end of the evening, with our guest speakers, for Discovery specific questions related to this topic.

This event will take place in the Dining Commons from 6:00-7:30pm. Finger food will be served.

Snacks for Teachers!

Help us provide food and drinks for our beloved teachers during Parent/Teacher conferences.

The items are to be dropped off to the front office on Wednesday, March 13th or Thursday, March 14th before NOON

All items must be NUT FREE. Please take a look at our SignUpGenius to see what you can bring. Any questions, please reach out to Sarah Lantz at SchoolPrograms@discoverypta.org. Thank you!

Ongoing Opportunities
Order Your Discovery Yearbook!

You can already pre-order your Discovery 2023-24 yearbooks. Last year they sold out, so don’t wait!

When you visit the memory book website for the first time, you will need to register. Discovery’s School Code is 154147M. Orders must be placed by April 18th, 2024. Yearbooks will be delivered to your student’s classroom at the end of the year.

Volunteers Needed

The PTA needs a variety of volunteers in both leadership and support roles. Please take a look at our volunteer page to see a full list of available jobs and choose a task that fits your skills. Help us pull off the many amazing events and programs we have planned for this school year!

Just a reminder, in order to volunteer in the school building, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for three years.

Community Events
30th Annual Feel the Heritage Festival

The Department of Parks and Recreation, with the help of a dedicated planning committee, is hosting the 30th Annual Feel the Heritage Festival on Saturday, February 24 from noon-5 p.m. at Charles Drew Community Center. The festival welcomes hundreds of attendees each year to celebrate African American history, heritage, and culture while enjoying live entertainment, delicious food and dozens of vendors.
