Discovery’s beloved Share the Love event is back and bigger than ever!

This year’s volunteer activities include assembling crate blankets for the Animal Welfare League, building a free library (like the ones you often see around our neighborhoods) for the Arlington School Book Drive, assembling diaper kits for the DC Diaper Bank, donating gently used sports equipment for the Level the Playing Field, and more!

This wonderful volunteer event takes place on Sunday, February 11th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm in the Discovery Dining Commons. 

Show your school spirit!  From tie dye tees and hoodies to hats and totes, we have everything you need to show off your Discovery pride!  

The order window is open through Friday, February 16th. Items will be delivered to your student at school once ready.

• Order books through local nonprofit R.E.A.D. (Read Early and Daily). The two Corrine titles are only available on Amazon but you can still send them in for signing.
• Be sure to include your child's name and "Discovery" with your order, since she will also be visiting Glebe, Campbell and Long Branch.

Yearbooks will be delivered to your student’s classroom at the end of the year.

During the school year, Discovery students donate over 2,800 pounds of food to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Program) through the Discovery Food Bus Program.

Volunteers (parents and kids!) are needed to take the donations to AFAC at the end of the week. You may pick up donations anytime between 2-4 PM.

The PTA needs a variety of volunteers in both leadership and support roles. Please take a look at our volunteer page to see a full list of available jobs and choose a task that fits your skills. Help us pull off the many amazing events and programs we have planned for this school year! 

Just a reminder, in order to volunteer in the school building, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for three years.

Looking for a few hours to get out and celebrate this day with your Valentine or Galentines? The Yorktown Cheerleaders and Dancers are excited to help you out! Just bring your kids to our Valentine's Day Parents Night Out - They will play games, make crafts, and even watch a movie.  

Pizza and snacks will be provided.

Kids must be potty trained.
