| Time to Get Your Auction Tickets! Join us on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 7pm to 12am at Knights of Columbus. Parents, teachers and staff, please join us to celebrate our wonderful Discovery community with our biggest fundraiser and adult social of the year! We need your help to make this event a success: - Family/personal donations are easy! Examples include: tickets to sporting events; vacation home use; hosting a parent, kid or family party such as a backyard party, movie night, pool party, or a poker tournament; or professional services and more.

- Ticket sales are here! Tickets are $75 each and include open bar, heavy appetizers, live DJ, a photo booth and the celebrated late-night pizza. (Teachers and staff plus 1 guest are FREE.)
- Teachers and Staff Donations! Parents love to bid on experiences for the kids to spend extra special time with our beloved teachers and staff! Activities could include an after-school pizza/popsicle/ice cream mini party, gardening, reading, brain games...think anything fun/special with you!
Why Donate? This fundraiser provides over half of the PTA’s budget, which is used to fund activities like author visits, field trip transportation, academic enrichment like STEM resources, our many community building school events, the hydroponic garden, and so much more! | Family Bingo Night is Tonight! Join the PTA TONIGHT, January 25th, for Family Bingo Night, from 6PM-7:30PM in the Dining Commons. Pizza will be available for purchase (gluten free options as well). Please RSVP here if you plan to attend and purchase pizza, so we can make sure we have enough for everyone! Fruit/vegetable trays and water will be provided. We also encourage families to bring their own refillable water bottles! |

| Military Family Coffee Rescheduled for Feb 2 You are invited to a delightful morning of connection and community-building at our upcoming Military Family Coffee event, now on Friday, February 2nd at 9:00am in Blue Sky Studio! As a valued member of our military, State Department, and embassy families, we invite you to join us for a warm cup of coffee (and a treat) and engaging conversations. Whether you are new to Discovery or this is your 5th year here, you are welcome. This casual meet-up is a perfect chance for you to connect with fellow parents who understand the unique challenges and triumphs that come with our shared background. | DJ Dance Party is BACK on Feb 9! Come join us for a night of dancing fun! Discovery PTA is bringing back the DJ Dance Party on Friday, February 9th, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Glow in the dark markers will be provided, but please have your child bring a plain white t-shirt to the event! *No food or drink is allowed in the gym, so please ensure your child eats beforehand. If your child brings a water bottle, they will be asked to leave it in the lobby. *This is not a drop-off event. Parents/caregivers must remain on-site until the end of the event. |

| Order Wendy Shang Books! - Author Wendy Shang will be at Discovery on Friday Feb 23rd. Order books by February 16th!
- Order books through local nonprofit R.E.A.D. (Read Early and Daily). The two Corrine titles are only available on Amazon but you can still send them in for signing.
- Be sure to include your child's name and "Discovery" with your order, since she will also be visiting Glebe, Campbell and Long Branch.

| Sign Up for the Discovery Food Bus! During the school year, Discovery students donate over 2,800 pounds of food to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Program) through the Discovery Food Bus Program. Volunteers (parents and kids!) are needed to take the donations to AFAC at the end of the week. You may pick up donations anytime between 2-4 PM. Get all the details and sign up for your turn. |

| Volunteers Needed The PTA needs a variety of volunteers in both leadership and support roles. Please take a look at our volunteer page to see a full list of available jobs and choose a task that fits your skills. Help us pull off the many amazing events and programs we have planned for this school year! Just a reminder, in order to volunteer in the school building, parents or guardians must fill out a volunteer application every two years, and the required training is valid for three years. |

| Cheer and Dance Skills Camp with the Yorktown Spirit Program MONDAY, JAN 29, 2024, 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM Yorktown High School Come join the award-winning Yorktown Cheerleaders and Nationally ranked Dancers for a day of Cheering, Dancing Tumbling, Jumping, turning, leaping, stunting and fun at this sell-out Annual event! Participants will learn and learn and practice skills and technique used by the team, as well as a band chant taught by our Varsity team leaders. Junior Cheerleaders and Dancers will perform their new material for parents and friends at the afternoon showcase. A pizza lunch & special shirt is included with each registration.
