RENEW YOUR PTA MEMBERSHIP FOR 2023/2024
If you would like to continue to receive the PTA Newsletter every other Thursday after school starts, remember to RENEW your PTA Membership for the new school year. After school starts, newsletters will only be sent to current members of the PTA. 

Rising-K families, join us for a morning playdate on Sunday, August 13th at 9am on the Kindergarten playground (facing 36th St. N). Enjoy connecting with fellow Rising-K families, as well as old friends. Siblings welcome!

Principal Dr Erin Healy and PTA President Adam Simkin will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have leading up to the first day of school.

Discovery Yard Signs will be available free of charge, and as an added bonus, we will be handing out free, old school Discovery t-shirts (size Small) to interested Explorers.

Help us welcome Discovery teachers and staff back to school by providing breakfast treats on their first day back! 

All food items must be dropped off on Wednesday, August 16th between 7:30am-4:30pm. Teachers and staff return on August 17, so we will prep things early in the morning. 

Office drop-off! Please bring your items to the school office and let a staff member know if it requires refrigiration. Gluten-free items should be marked. If you've made homemade items, please try and include a list of ingreduents used.

Nut-free! Please make sure all items are nut-free.

Join Discovery teachers and families for our Sumer Reading Night tradition, hosted this year in Discovery’s very own library on Monday, August 21st, starting at 5 pm. 

Dr Healy and Dr Seeber (along with a handful of Discovery teachers) will be reading aloud some of their favorite children’s books to our young Explorers. Siblings welcome…and so are jammies!

We are in need of 6-8 volunteers to help us distribute Sprout Kits to teacher classrooms on Wednesday, August 23rd, from 9 am-11 am. Take into account moderate lifting is required (under 25 lbs).

We know Explorers and parents alike are extremely excited to start a brand new school year. This year, Discovery’s Open House will take place Thursday, August 24th, from 8:30 am-9:30 am. 

• Last names beginning with A through L, please join us between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM.
• Last names beginning with M through Z, please join us between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM.

If you are unable to make it during your last name time, you may come during the other block, but we ask that everyone tries to stay with their alphabetical group to prevent overcrowding and ensure each student gets a chance to meet their teacher(s).

Celebrate the first day of school (Monday, August 28th) with fellow Discovery parents. We will gather on the back veranda (the N. Harrison Street side of school) at 9 am for Starbucks coffee and tasty treats, provided by the PTA. Dr Healy and/or Dr Seeber will make a brief appearance, schedules permitting. 

Come join us for the very first PTA meeting of the school year on Wednesday, September 6th (leading into Back To School Night). You'll learn all about the Discovery PTA, who we are, what we do, and why we need YOU to help us make this school year a success. A meeting agenda will emailed to our general membership prior to the meeting.

Our PTA Meeting will take place from 5:30-6:15 pm in the Dining Commons. Everyone will then transition straight into Back to School Night, starting at 6:30 pm.
