Author Visit: Lulu Delacre

Description

Three-time Pura Belpré Award honoree Lulu Delacre has been writing and illustrating children's books since 1980. The New York Times Best-selling artist was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Delacre says her Latino heritage and her life experiences inform her work.

Delacre has over 40 book titles. Among her latest works are Turning Pages by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Luci Soars, and Rafi and Rosi Music! Her Rafi and Rosi books are ideal for younger readers. The playful brother and sister series is inspired by Puerto Rico’s famous Coqui frogs. Rafi always seems to have a scientific or historical trick up his sleeve when it comes to dealing with his little sister Rosi.

Delacre has lectured internationally and served as a juror for the National Book Awards.

Her books are available at a 20% discount online by going to the Discovery author event page on the Barston’s Child’s Play website. Child's Play will deliver the books to the school at the beginning of April, and the school will distribute them to you through your child's homeroom teacher. If you would like a book personalized, please make note of it where you list your child’s name and teacher
